Holland America Line-Westours Appoints Of Peter T. Mchugh EVP

SEATTLE, Jan. 10, 1996 -- A. Kirk Lanterman, president and CEO of Holland America Line-Westours Inc., has announced the appointment of Peter T. McHugh to the new position of executive vice president.

McHugh joined the company Jan. 1, 1996, from Pan American World Airways, where he had served as chief executive officer and for the past four years was responsible for the orderly liquidation of the Pan Am business. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer for Pan Am, responsible for the development of overall corporate strategies and policies, the annual business plan, and the world-wide operation of Pan Am and its subsidiaries. He also held other senior marketing and sales positions with that company.

Before joining Pan Am, McHugh was with Trans World Airlines, where he held numerous senior management positions, including president of TWA Marketing Services, which developed several new businesses including the Travel Channel, World Marketing Services, a direct mail and telemarketing company, and Inflight Shopping, a retail sales service for TWA customers. While at TWA, McHugh also served as senior vice president, marketing and sales, as well as in other senior executive positions.

In making the announcement, Holland America Westours President and CEO A. Kirk Lanterman said McHugh's role will be to assist Lanterman in the continuing development and growth of the company. In the near future, McHugh will be assuming responsibility for key elements of the Holland America Westours organization.

"Peter joins Holland America Westours with more than 20 years of diversified senior management experience in the travel industry," said Lanterman. McHugh holds a bachelor of science degree in finance from Lasalle College in Philadelphia and an MBA from Drexel University, also in Philadelphia.
