Holland America Line's Rotterdam VI Debuts Fall 1997

SEATTLE, March 13 -- Holland America Line's next flagship, ss
Rotterdam VI, is slated to enter service Sept. 30, 1997. The company has just
received word from the Fincantieri shipyard that the debut of the 62,000-ton,
1,320-passenger vessel has changed from the previous date of Aug. 1, 1997.
The fall introduction is in conjunction with the retirement of the current
flagship, ss Rotterdam V.

The new ship will reflect the graceful elegance of her predecessors yet also
possess state-of-the-art features of a new generation of luxury liners,
including alternative dining concierge services and a 25-knot cruising speed
(which is 20 percent faster than today's average cruise ship).

Holland America Line's cruises feature a "Tradition of Excellence,"
including spacious staterooms, superb dining, renowned service, casino,
first-rate entertainment, duty-free on-board shops, the "Passport to Fitness"
activity program and complete fitness center, coupled with popular "tipping
not required" and "cashless" ship policies.

Holland America Line's award-winning, five-star fleet of eight (Veendam May
1996) luxury cruise ships offers cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Panama
Canal, Hawaii, Eastern Canada and New England, Europe, South Pacific, South
America and around the world.

Holland America Line has won the "Best Cruise Value" award from the World
Ocean & Cruise Liner Society for the last four years and the 1996 Onboard
Overall Service award from "Onboard Services" magazine.
