Silversea Announces New Enrichment Program With National GeographicTraveler

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 31 -- In the spirit of discovery,
Silversea Cruises has invited "National Geographic Traveler" aboard its two
luxury vessels, Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, creating an enrichment program
designed to enhance guests' knowledge of geography, culture, oceanography,
photography and nature.

Guests on selected Silversea cruises will enjoy lectures from noted National
Geographic Society photographers and journalists and shore excursions hosted
by experts who have traveled the globe while "on assignment" for National
Geographic publications". A special library on each ship will feature
"National Geographic" magazines, CD-ROMs, maps, atlases, videos and travel
reference materials for guests to peruse as Silversea cruises the world's
oceans and waterways.

"The National Geographic Society has explored every corner of the globe. We
are tremendously excited to present our guests with an opportunity to travel
with renowned photographers and journalists," said Silversea President William
L. Smith. "By combining enlightening lectures and specially designed tours,
our guests will go behind the scenes and explore cultural experiences that few
travelers ever enjoy."

"National Geographic Traveler" and Silversea share a commitment to quality
and a strong spirit of discovery. Robert Sims, Senior Vice President of the
National Geographic Society, explains, "Educational outreach is a significant
part of the Society's century-old mission to increase and diffuse geographic
knowledge. This venture is an innovative way for us to inspire people to see
the world and learn how to be good stewards of the earth at the same time."

Another important element of the program puts Silversea and "National
Geographic Traveler" together with important destination partners who will
assist in creating unique Silversea Experiences(R) around the globe. This is
especially exciting as 1997 sees Silversea expanding its international
repertoire of itineraries with cruises to new destinations including South
Africa and the South Pacific.

The exclusive series of cruises debuts with Silver Cloud's October 30, 1996
New York to Nassau "Colonial Coast" cruise featuring award-winning National
Geographic Society photographer Sam Abell. Part visionary, part skilled
technician, part bold adventurer, Abell has earned international acclaim as
one of the Society's premier photographers since 1970. The program continues
into 1997 and 1998 with a selection of voyages representative of Silversea's
worldwide destinations. Each itinerary will feature a Society photographer or
journalist intimately familiar with the area.
