NCL Announces The Norwegian Crown's New 'Alaska South/Chilean Fjords'Cruises To South America

Exotic 14-Day Itineraries to Chile and Argentina Set to Begin in January 1998

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 -- Norwegian Cruise Line today announced
that it will operate the 1,050-passenger M/S Norwegian Crown on six
exceptional 14-day cruises to Chile and Argentina from January through March
1998, marking the first time ever an NCL vessel has sailed south of the
Equator.

Beginning in 1998, the 34,250-ton world class vessel will be permanently
based each winter in South America, sailing between Santiago, Chile and Buenos
Aires, Argentina. During the four "Alaska South/Chilean Fjords" voyages, the
Norwegian Crown will visit one of the world's most spectacular regions, with
scenery and wildlife similar to that found in Alaska: the palisade-lined
fjords of southern Chile, the towering glaciers of the Beagle Channel and the
famed Strait of Magellan and Cape Horn at the tip of South America.

Passengers will have a chance to see some of the world's most amazing
wildlife with tours offered to the Galapagos Islands, Argentina's Tierra del
Fuego National Park, the "Penguin Colony" in the Falkland Islands and
Antarctic flightseeing.

On the "Southern Discovery" voyages, passengers can visit ancient treasures
such as the legendary Inca empire of Machu Picchu and Peru's Gold Museum, as
well as visiting the cosmopolitan city of Santiago. Other highlights include
transiting the Panama Canal and the Equa.?

"This marks the first time NCL has sailed to the southernmost waters of
South America and these are undoubtedly some of the most exciting itineraries
we've ever offered," said Hans Golteus, president of NCL. "These cruises will
appeal to travelers looking for exotic ports and a touch of adventure usually
offered only by the most upscale, luxury cruise lines."

Passengers will have their choice of six South America sailings and can
extend their vacations with a two- or four-night, pre- or post-cruise land
package from Santiago or Buenos Aires, highlighted with a tour to the famous
Iguazu Falls.

Spacious Vessel Ideal for Exploring Exotic Destinations

"With its spacious accommodations, elegant public rooms and expansive
windows throughout, the Norwegian Crown is the ideal choice for cruising the
waterways of South America," said Bruce Nierenberg, executive vice president
of NCL. "These new itineraries are a perfect complement to the colorful
Mediterranean and Northern European cruises offered aboard the Norwegian Crown
in the summer and fall."

Built in 1988, the Norwegian Crown features elegant public rooms and
extensive accents of brass, imported marble, stained glass and the finest
hardwoods. The ship has 526 staterooms on seven decks and almost 80 percent
of the accommodations are deluxe outside staterooms.

Six bars and five lounges allow for excellent passenger flow and a feeling
of spaciousness. In keeping with NCL's reputation for offering hallmark
entertainment, the Norwegian Crown features the Tony award-winning Broadway
show, "The Will Rogers Follies" and musical revues in the tiered Stardust
Lounge. NCL's trademark Le Bistro restaurant will be added to the ship during
a scheduled dry-dock later this year.

"We are very excited about our new South America program, " said Nierenberg.
"These voyages are among the first of a variety of new product innovations
which will return NCL to its leadership position. We are committed to
diversifying our cruises and will continue to explore each and every
interesting opportunity throughout the world. 1997 is only the beginning."
