Royal Caribbean International Reports Best Booking Week In Its History
MIAMI, Jan. 16 -- Royal Caribbean International reported the
best booking week in its history, January 4 through 10, when it booked 102,430
individual passengers -- approximately one passenger every 2.5 seconds. The
week-long record exceeded the line's previous weekly booking record of 87,056
set during January, 1996.
Of the 102,430 passengers booked during the record-setting week of January
4, 1997, 17,449 were booked through Royal Caribbean's CruiseMatch 2000, the
cruise industry's first real-time, direct-access computer system for travel
agents. This booking total is also a weekly record for Royal Caribbean's
CruiseMatch 2000 automated booking system.
"It's been a hell of a week, and a great start to the new year," said
Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean's Chairman and CEO.
