ITV Discontinued on QE2
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 5, 1997 -- SeaVision, Inc., a subsidiary of Allin Communications, today announced it has notified Cunard of its intention to terminate operation of its Interactive Television System aboard QE2.
At the same time, SeaVision announced that Cunard has awarded it an integration contract in the amount of approximately $44,000, to upgrade the television system onboard the QE2 to include an additional 150 cabins. This contract is in addition to the $1.24 million in integration revenue which SeaVision recognized in the first quarter of this fiscal year relating to the installation of a new broadcast center aboard the QE2.
Mr. Brian K. Blair, President of SeaVision, explained, "while we have worked closely with the management of Cunard to justify the continuation of ITV aboard the QE2, the demographics and itinerary of the vessel are such that we are not able to generate sufficient onboard revenue to warrant maintaining and operating the system. Our relationship with the management of Cunard remains good, as evidenced by the announcement of a new integration contract with the cruise line. We will remove our equipment from the vessel prior to year-end and will inventory the equipment for potential utilization on a future installation."
