Carnival Cruise Lines Sets Single-Day Reservations Record

MIAMI, Feb. 9 -- Carnival Cruise Lines' reservations department
booked 21,190 individual guests yesterday, setting a new single-day record
which eclipsed the previous one-day high set Jan. 27, 1998, by 6 percent.

"Not only did we set a single-day reservations record at Carnival yesterday,
but we've been experiencing increased booking activity overall since the early
part of January and are clearly seeing an extended and robust wave period,"
said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president.

Carnival's 1999 year-to-date individual bookings are up 16 percent overall
versus the same period in 1998, a year which was the most productive in the
company's history, according to Dickinson.

The increased booking activity is running across all ships in the Carnival
fleet, including a variety of new products recently introduced or on tap, such
as the smoke-free Paradise, which entered service in November 1998; the
Sensation, which began seven-day cruises from Tampa in December of last year;
the new Carnival Triumph, which begins New York to Canada cruises this summer;
Imagination, which will operate the company's first four- and five-day cruise
program from Miami beginning in June; and Carnival's 13 Millennium Cruises.

The previous one-day reservations record, set Jan. 27, 1998 consisted of
19,941 individual guests.
