Carnival Cruise Lines To Offer Cruises From Newport News In Spring 2000On Carnival Destiny

MIAMI, June 9 -- Carnival Cruise Lines will return to Newport
News, Va., in spring 2000, offering a five-day Bahamas cruise and a one-night
cruise-to-nowhere on the 101,000-ton Carnival Destiny.

According to Carnival President Bob Dickinson, "We initiated service from
Newport News in spring 1999 with a series of voyages on the Fascination.
Interest in these sailings has been outstanding and has spurred our return to
Newport News in the spring of 2000 with the much larger Carnival Destiny."

Also included in the Carnival Destiny's 2000 cruise schedule are two cruises
from Charleston, S.C., and three voyages from Boston next spring, along with a
series of four- and five-day Canada cruises from New York June through August.

Providing departure points along the East Coast holds tremendous appeal for
consumers in the surrounding geographical regions who enjoy the convenience of
sailing from a port close to home, Dickinson explained. "As Carnival's fleet
continues to expand with the addition of new ships, we are able to diversify
more and more in terms of itineraries and departure ports that offer maximum
convenience and choice," he said.
