Celebrity Cruises Sets Single-Day Booking Record
MIAMI, Jan. 13 -- Celebrity Cruises this week achieved the
highest booking day in its 10-year history. On Tuesday, the premium cruise
line booked nearly 10 percent more guests than on January 25, 1999, when it
set its previous single-day booking record.
"This achievement further validates our continued efforts to make more
consumers aware of the tremendous appeal of a Celebrity vacation experience,"
said Celebrity Cruises President, Richard Sasso. "We are introducing four new
ships over the next two years, increasing our fleet to nine ships. As we
expand our fleet, we are expanding our global reach, offering our guests a
broader array of choices in destinations while continuing to provide the
spectacular service and amenities we're known for providing on every Celebrity
ship. We're thrilled to see that consumers are responding so favorably to our
efforts."
Celebrity Cruises has the youngest fleet of any major cruise line with five
ships and four on order. The 1,950-guest "Millennium" will join the fleet in
June 2000, and three additional vessels will join the fleet in 2001 and 2002.
Celebrity Cruises is the highest-rated premium cruise line in the industry and
is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. For additional information, visit
