Julia Child to Host 'Chef's Palate' Cruise on QE2

MIAMI, Jan. 29, 2001 -- Julia Child, the chef who revolutionized
American cuisine by demystifying sophisticated French cooking, is scheduled to
join Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth 2 for the Chef's Palate theme cruise, a
six-day transatlantic crossing from New York to Southampton, June 24-30, 2001.

Child, who enjoys international celebrity for her award-winning cookbooks
and world-renowned television programs, will bring her expertise to the
lounges and galleys of QE2 for the first time. Guests will have the fortune
to attend a cooking demonstration hosted by Child, and those who dine in the
Queen's Grill will have the opportunity to tantalize their palates with a
signature menu designed by her especially for the Chef's Palate crossing. Book
signings and a question-and-answer session with the famed chef are sure to be
a highlight for guests aboard this culinary extravaganza.

"Julia Child epitomizes the blend of classical expertise and spirited
innovation that is our ideal at Cunard Line," said Larry Pimentel, CTC,
president and CEO of Cunard Line. "We couldn't have selected a more perfect
host to enrich our guests' onboard experience. We are honored to have her on
our acclaimed guest chef program."

From her trademark expression "Bon Appetit!" to her tips on how to keep
souffles from falling, Child has sliced, diced and chopped her way into homes
around the world for more than 40 years. After wedding her husband, Paul, and
moving to Paris, Child attended the world-renowned Cordon Bleu school of
French cooking for six months of training. She then teamed up with Simone
Beck and Louisette Bertholle to begin a cooking school, "L'Ecole des Trois
Gourmandes," and the rest is history. The three collaborated, and in 1961
their 700-page "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" was published. The book
remains a staple text of aspiring chefs and avid amateurs.

In 1963 following a television interview that had audiences captivated,
Child's first television show, "The French Chef," was born. After some 200
programs on classical French cooking, she explored contemporary cuisine with
"Julia Child and Company," "Julia Child and More Company," "Dinner at
Julia's," "Baking with Julia," the "Master Chefs" series, and "Cooking in
Concert." Most recently Child teamed up with Jacques Pepin for "Julia and
Jacques Cooking at Home."

This is an excellent time to experience QE2's Chef's Palate transatlantic
