RCI and Radio Voyager to Broadast Global Radio Program From Cruise Ships
ITHACA, N.Y.---Jan. 8, 2001--Radio Voyager Network (RVN) today announced they have signed an agreement with Royal Caribbean International to originate remote radio broadcasts from Royal Caribbean cruise ships.
The broadcasts will air from Explorer of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas cruise ships throughout 2001.
Each remote broadcast will be distributed to Radio Voyager's affiliates in Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Africa, and streamed globally via all of RVN's affiliated digital platforms.
"Royal Caribbean is committed to protecting the marine environment. With this program we can educate a wide audience about the wonders of the ocean and its importance to all life on our planet," said Nancy Wheatly, senior vice president of Safety and Environment for Royal Caribbean International. "The more people understand the closer we come to protecting and preserving a healthy marine environment."
"We are looking forward to bringing the world to Royal Caribbean as part of these broadcasts," said Paul Bartishevich, president of Finger Lakes Productions International who produces Radio Voyager Network. "These remotes will not only be a great deal of fun for our listeners, but will also highlight how people can remain connected wherever they are on our planet."
Radio Voyager is the only English-language, commercial radio network to broadcast and web cast simultaneously throughout the world. Radio Voyager Network is a 24-hour service that includes contemporary music, live top of the hour news, lifestyle information and disc jockeys in tune with a global audience. The Royal Caribbean remotes will occur four weeks during the year for four hours daily. The web cast component of the Royal Caribbean remotes will be heard simultaneously on all RVN affiliates while being heard in the Internet ready cabins of their new ships. It will also provide a common link between passengers and friends and family members on shore who can listen to the live broadcast.
