This February, CLIA Goes 'Behind The Scenes' to Celebrate 11th AnnualNational Cruise Vacation Month

NEW YORK, Jan. 26 -- This February, Cruise Lines International
Association (CLIA) will be taking consumers behind the scenes of the cruise
industry.

"Anyone who's ever wondered about how the cruise industry creates such
memorable experiences will want to tune into their local TV and radio news
programs during the first two full weeks of February," said James G. Godsman,
president of CLIA, a non-profit organization representing the major North
American cruise lines.

From Feb. 5-16, seven shipboard personnel, mostly cruise directors and ship
captains, will be on tour across the United States, letting television and
radio reporters in on what goes on behind the scenes.

The participating cruise lines are Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises,
First European Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess
Cruises and Windstar Cruises.

Officers and cruise staff will share stories in Albuquerque, Atlanta,
Baltimore, Birmingham, Boston, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus,
Dallas, Denver, Durham, Greensboro, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Los
Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, Miami, Minneapolis, New Haven and New York.

The spokespersons also will visit Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix,
Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, San
Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Washington, DC.

Anyone who catches a radio or television program featuring a cruise industry
spokesperson can expect to learn a lot about cruise vacations. In the past,
journalists have covered a wide array of cruise topics, among them dining
options, hot destinations, why cruises are a good value, who's cruising, and
ship and shore activities.

CLIA-affiliated travel agencies across the nation also will celebrate
National Cruise Vacation Month with locally hosted Cruise Nights and open
houses.

"Anyone curious about cruising will find that February is the perfect time
to learn about them," said Godsman. "This is when CLIA-affiliated agencies
plan open houses and cruise nights, and extend their office hours. And,
they'll set the stage for a cruise experience with colorful 'Set Your Own
Course/You Haven't Lived Until You've Cruised' posters, balloons and counter
cards."
