Royal Caribbean International Announces Plans for 2002

MIAMI, Jan. 9, 2002 -- Royal Caribbean International embarks on another exciting year with the debut of Brilliance of the Seas in Europe; year-round Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston, Texas on Rhapsody of the Seas; introduction of service from Tampa and New Orleans; three- and four- night Baja sailings on Vision of the Seas, which replaces Viking Serenade; a doubling in rail car capacity in Alaska; three Voyager-class ships in the Caribbean; a distinctive trio of positioning cruises and more.

"Vacationers are demanding experience-driven cruises that provide wonderful memories," said Jack Williams, president and COO, Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises. "We are committed to offering an incredible array of options for our guests on our 15-ship fleet."

Brilliance of the Seas, which debuts in July 2002, spends the summer in Europe sailing 12-night Scandinavia/Russia and British Isles/Norwegian Fjords cruises. She repositions in the fall for 10-night New England/Canada cruises before spending the winter in the Caribbean. Like her sister, Radiance of the Seas, more than 70 percent of Brilliance's outside staterooms will have balconies. She will be joined in Europe by Splendour of the Seas sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from late-April through October 2002.

Rhapsody of the Seas continues her new Gulf Port itineraries, offering seven-night Western Caribbean sailings from Tampa and New Orleans. In April, she repositions to Galveston, Texas for year-round seven-night Western Caribbean cruises. Viking Serenade will leave the Royal Caribbean fleet and be replaced by Vision of the Seas for three and four-night Baja sailings, beginning in October.

With an increase in rail car accommodations, more guests can experience any of 13 exciting packages taking them deep into the heart of Alaska on the most-advanced dome rail cars in the world.

The cars offer 360-degree viewing; roomier, more comfortable seats that recline in pairs and rotate; onboard dining; outdoor viewing platforms; and wheelchair accessibility to the dome level -- a first in the industry.

With three Voyager-class vessels in service, Voyager of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas, Royal Caribbean dominates the Caribbean, offering seven-night Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean itineraries year-round.

Popular cruise itineraries return including Alaska cruises aboard Vision of the Seas, Legend of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas; Mexican Riviera sailings on Legend of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas and Vision of the Seas; and Hawaii cruises on Legend of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas and Vision of the Seas. Royal Caribbean will continue to deploy three-, four- and five-night short cruises aboard Majesty of the Seas, Sovereign of the Seas, Radiance of the Seas, Monarch of the Seas and Nordic Empress.
