PORT EVERGLADES, Fla., Jan. 10, 2002 -- A U.S. Senate sub-committee liked a high-speed access control and accountability system developed by Security Identification Systems Corporation (SISCO).

The system, which delivers a high level of security protection to almost every major cruise line, received high marks today during a Senate sub- committee field hearing on seaport and cruise ship passenger security. After listening to the expert testimony of SISCO's CEO Anthony Zagami, Senator John Breaux, who chaired the hearing, said, "The system we saw this afternoon is really excellent."

The Senator's remark was a reference to SISCO's A-PASS (Automated Personnel Assisted Security Screening), which is the latest, most sophisticated electronic access control system ever designed exclusively for the cruise industry. A-PASS provides high-speed, interactive photo identification, access control screening and identification of cruise line passengers, guests and employees as they enter and exit a ship.

"The A-PASS system promotes speed of passenger loading while giving the passengers a heightened sense of safety and security," said Zagami. "It is so successful that it is being used by every major passenger carrier, including Carnival, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines."

"It was indeed an honor to be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the A-PASS system to the Senators," Zagami said.

The Senate Committee also heard expert testimony from the Interim Director of Port Everglades, the Director of the Port of Miami, the Executive VP of the International Council of Cruise Lines, the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs Service and the INS as well as Princess, Royal Caribbean and Holland America cruise lines.
