New Carnival Conquest, Largest Cruise Ship to Be Based in New Orleans,to Arrive Tuesday, Nov. 12
WHAT: Arrival of Carnival Cruise Lines' new 110,000-ton Carnival
Conquest, the largest "Fun Ship" ever constructed, which will be
homeported in New Orleans, becoming the newest and largest ship
based there year-round.
More than three football fields in length, Carnival Conquest boasts
an unprecedented 22 lounges and bars, four swimming pools -- one
with a 214-foot-long water slide -- along with a duty-free shopping
mall, an Internet cafe, a 12,000-square-foot fitness center, an
expansive teen club/video arcade, and a 4,200-square-foot
children's play area, part of the line's top-rated "Camp Carnival"
program.
Enhancing these areas are stunning interiors inspired by the
world's great Impressionist painters -- appropriate for a ship
based in New Orleans, a city possessing a rich European heritage.
ARRIVAL AT PORT OF NEW ORLEANS TUESDAY, NOV.
12 -- Carnival
Conquest is expected to be at Jackson Square at approximately
8:30 a.m. and be alongside the Julia Street Terminal, Berth 2, at
approximately 9 a.m. Media access will be limited to dockside only
Nov. 12-13.
UNITED WAY BLACK-TIE FUNDRAISER THURSDAY, NOV. 14 -- Media are
invited to tour the vessel beginning at 10 a.m. Embarkation for
the invitation-only black-tie United Way fundraiser begins
at 3 p.m.
INAUGURAL VOYAGE FRIDAY, NOV. 15 -- Embarkation for inaugural
four-day cruise begins at 12:30 p.m. and the ship is scheduled to
depart the Julia Street Terminal at approximately 4 p.m.
