Windstar Offers Higlights of 2008 Itineraries
SEATTLE, April 11, 2007 -- Windstar today announced highlights of its 2008 deployment, including both fun in the sun and two new Adriatic itineraries between Venice, Italy and Dubrovnik, Croatia visiting picturesque gems along the Croatian Coast.
Between Venice and Dubrovnik, ports visited include Koper, Slovenia; Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Split and Korcula, Croatia. From Dubrovnik to Venice, ports include Kotor, Montenegro; Ploce, Hvar, Sebenik, Rab, Croatia and Trieste, Italy. The Wind Star sails the Adriatic twice and the Wind Surf four times.
"Croatia is a new hot spot for travelers," says Diane Moore, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Windstar Cruises and Majestic America Line. "It's a perfect cruising destination with over 1,000 islands, beautiful beaches and coastline, a balmy climate and historic and cultural attractions. We expect this to be a popular itinerary."
All three Windstar ships set sail in Europe from March through November with 49 sailings planned in the Mediterranean and 40 in the Greek Isles. The Wind Surf spends the season sailing seven-day itineraries in the Western Mediterranean between homeports of Lisbon, Barcelona, Rome, Nice, Monte Carlo, Venice, and Dubrovnik. For guests desiring a longer cruise, the Wind Surf's itineraries have been arranged to facilitate back-to-back cruising without repeating ports.
The Wind Star and Wind Spirit will offer a combined total of 40 departures in the ever-popular Greek Isles. Seven-day itineraries between Athens, Greece and Istanbul, Turkey visit Mykonos, Santorini, and Rhodes, Greece; Bodrum and Kusadasi, Turkey.
An eight-day cruise on the Wind Surf coincides with the Formula One Grand Prix race in Monaco and the Cannes Film Festival in France. The cruise departs Nice roundtrip on May 18 and overnights one night in Cannes, two nights in Monte Carlo, and visits St. Tropez, France and St. Florent, Corsica. An optional special event to view the Grand Prix race will be planned.
The Wind Spirit and Wind Surf sail 35 seven-day cruises in the Caribbean in winter 2008. The Wind Spirit sails roundtrip from St. Thomas visiting St. John, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda with overnights stays planned in St. Thomas and Virgin Gorda. The Wind Surf sails roundtrip from Bridgetown, Barbados on two different itineraries. The northbound itinerary visits St. Kitts; Nevis; St. Martin; St. Barthelemy; Basse-Terre and Les Saintes, Guadeloupe; and St. Lucia. To experience the Caribbean of yesteryear, the southbound itinerary visits Bequia and Mayreau, The Grenadines; Dominica; St. Lucia; Grenada and Tobago.
The Wind Star will sail 16 seven-day cruises along the beautiful Pacific coast of Costa Rica in winter 2008. The roundtrip itinerary from Puerto Caldera visits San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua; Playas del Coco, Quepos, Bahia Paraiso, Curu (National Wildlife Refuge), and Tortuga Island, Costa Rica. Two 14-day Panama Canal cruises sail between Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica and Bridgetown, Barbados departing April 5 and November 29.
In spring and fall, each ship will sail a 14-day Transatlantic voyage between Portugal and the Caribbean. With no ports of call, the extended time at sea invites total relaxation and a retreat from the demands of the world.
Windstar recently announced another multi-million dollar investment in all three ships to add even more luxury amenities on board and update public spaces and staterooms. The Wind Surf was the first ship to be completed in December 2006. Highlights include two new luxury Bridge Suites, remodeled bathrooms in all suites and staterooms, and The Yacht Club-the new social hub of the ship with an espresso bar, comfortable seating, computers and Internet. The Wind Spirit renovations will be completed prior to the European season in spring 2007, with the Wind Star following in fall 2007.
