Majestic America Line Introduces 48-Passenger Contessa

SEATTLE, June 8, 2007 -- On June 10, Majestic America Line will introduce its most intimate ship, the 48-guest Contessa with 16 seven-night sailings between Ketchikan and Sitka..

"The Contessa provides the ultimate way to experience a one-of-a-kind Alaskan adventure," said David A. Giersdorf, President, Majestic America Line. "Cruising aboard the Contessa is like being on your own private yacht. With just 24 newly redesigned staterooms and a fantastic 360-degree viewing platform, we're able to deliver an authentic travel experience in the Great Land that focuses on the wildlife, environment and culture of one of the most unforgettable destinations in America while traveling in comfort and style. The Contessa has the freedom to visit extraordinary places far off the beaten path and show guests the true beauty of Alaska."

The Contessa -- which has spent the past several months undergoing a stem-to-stern upgrade -- offering guests an exclusive, unforgettable Alaskan travel experience that fewer than 800 guests will be able to experience this year.

Guests sailing on the Contessa's "Alaska Adventure" voyages embark in the heart of the Inside Passage from either Ketchikan or Sitka, allowing for more time to immerse themselves in the wonder and extraordinary natural surroundings of Alaska from the very first moment of the cruise. The ship's catamaran hull and the redesigned top deck allow unparalleled access to Alaska's majestic sights. All of the Contessa's deluxe staterooms offer outside views and feature at least two large windows that provide spectacular, unobstructed vistas of the magnificent scenery, picturesque ports and wildlife for which "The Last Frontier" is renowned.

The Contessa's inaugural voyage departs on June 10 from Ketchikan. This week-long sailing will provide guests with stops in rarely visited ports such as Wrangell and Thomas Bay and breathtaking views of some of Alaska's most active glaciers, which include LeConte Face, Dawes, Endicott and North and South Sawyer. Every sailing during the season will include an entry into the unforgettable Glacier Bay National Park.

An expert onboard naturalist and custom-designed land excursions, many included in the cruise price, enrich the Alaska travel experience and afford a deeper understanding of the region's natural history and native cultures.

One of the most remarkable shore excursions included in the voyage is the exhilarating jet boat tour of the mighty Stikine River. Known as one of America's last wild rivers, this glacier-fed waterway was once a major navigation route to the Klondike traveled by multitudes of sternwheelers. Contessa guests will board the enclosed jet boats and traverse the ever-changing river delta, meandering through side sloughs to explore the banks of the river. They will marvel at the mountain peaks, thundering waterfalls and incredible wildlife. The journey will culminate at Shakes Lake, where travelers will take in the awe-inspiring scenery of the lake's sparkling blue and crystal clear icebergs, before making the return trek to the ship. In addition the jet boat excursion, guests also will have opportunities to experience cruising Behm Canal, as well as a hiking tour and kayaking adventure in Katlian Bay.

With sailings from June through September, rates for the seven-night program start at $1,699 per person with exclusive saving applied based on double occupancy.

In addition to the cruise itself, select shore excursions, soft drinks, specialty coffees, on board enrichments and entertainment programs are all included in the price of every Majestic America Line cruise.
