Oceania Implements $7/pcd Fuel Surcharge
12/11/2007 -- Oceania Cruises today became the latest operator to implement a fuel surcharge. The $7 per person, per day amount applies to new and existing reservations that are not paid in full by Dec. 1 and is effective for all published sailings through April 2009.
"At the time that we set our current pricing, oil was trading at approximately $60 per barrel and it is now quickly approaching $100 per barrel. This is the first time we have implemented a surcharge and I hope our guests will understand the root cause of this necessary action," said Oceania president Bob Binder.
Passengers who pay in full prior to Dec. 1 will be exempt from the surcharge.
