Cruise West Features Small-Ship Exploration of Pacific Northwest & British Columbia
SEATTLE, May 27, 2008 -- Starting this September and continuing next spring, Cruise West is offering small-ship exploration along the coasts of British Columbia and Washington state.
The eight-day, seven-night Pacific Northwest Coastal Escape cruise, with departure dates of September 21, 28 and October 5, 12, 2008 and April 19, 26 and May 3, 2009 will sail on the 102-guest Spirit of Endeavour. Cruising round trip from Seattle, ports of call will include: Nanaimo, "The Harbour City"; Desolation Sound Provincial Marine Park, considered one of the most beautiful cruising areas in British Columbia; Victoria; and historic Port Townsend known for its Victorian architecture. The 2008/2009 Pacific Northwest Coastal Escape itinerary will visit quaint ports, bustling cities, and remarkable wilderness that have changed little since Captain George Vancouver first set foot in the area.
Guests are offered a variety of adventures, such as walking the paths at renowned Butchart Gardens; exploring the majestic Puget Sound in search of wildlife and sea life; and optional excursions including kayaking and High Tea at the Victoria Empress Hotel. Guests will also enjoy cultural and educational experiences unique to the Pacific Northwest. Highlights include: admiring cultural history and art of the Coast Salish people including totem poles and carving demonstrations at the Capilano Suspension Bridge; an exclusive Aeolian pipe organ recital by renowned Christopher Peacock at Rosario Resort; and viewing the stunning reflection of the more than 3,000 lights off the water from the Parliament Building in Victoria.
