Dress code and formal nights
During the day, attire is relaxed and casual. The only rule is that shoes and a cover-up over a bathing suit are required when walking through the interior of the ship.
Evening dress falls into two categories, Formal and Smart Casual.
- Smart casual requires slacks and button-down shirt or sweater for men, and skirt or trousers and sweater or blouse for women. T-shirts, swimsuits, tank tops and shorts are not allowed in the restaurants or public areas during the evening hours.
- On Formal evenings, ladies usually wear a cocktail dress or gown and gentlemen usually wear a suit and tie or tuxedo. Jackets are required. There are approximately two formal nights per week.
If you do not wish to dress up: Even on formal nights you can wear jeans and have a nice dinner in the Lido. Although HAL is relatively traditional about evening attire, and would prefer guests not wear jeans in the lounges on formal nights, in practice the dining room is the only place a guest will be asked to change clothes.
Formalwear for ladies and gentlemen can be pre-ordered for your use during your cruise through Cruiseline Formalwear at 1-800-551-5091. Your formalwear will be in your stateroom when you board.
