Will I get sick on a cruise?
The incidence of illness on cruise ships is actually relatively low. (If you are concerned about getting SEA-sick, read our Tips for Avoiding Seasickness.)
That said, people do sometimes get sick, and just like in any public place you should take some basic precautions -- in particular washing your hands regularly -- to ensure you have a healthy cruise.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) inspects virtually all cruise ships (those that visit a U.S. port, go on a foreign itinerary and carry over 13 people) to ensure compliance with U.S. Public Health regulations.
